• Prevention and minimising risk.

About Professor Barker:

Professor Stephen Barker is a Professor of Parasitology at the University of Queensland, St Lucia, Brisbane. He has been studying ticks and other ectoparasites at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, for over 25 years.

Recent and current activities include:

• A monograph (670 pages), written with his wife Dayana, on the Ticks of Australasia.

• Research directed towards ensuring the supply of Australian paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus) for the production of tick anti-sera and new, improved immunological therapeutics to treat tick paralysis in dogs.
